It’s been a great month for Dundarave Estate and sister estate Cherryvalley.
With the turn of September, we looked forward to the return of Northern Ireland’s biggest agricultural event, Balmoral Show, held on 22nd-25th September 2021.
On our first day exhibiting, we were honoured to be awarded the ‘Best Trade Stand displaying local food’ which was proudly displayed for the rest of our stay, enticing many visitors to come say hi, sample our produce and take home our award-winning goods.

Speaking of award-winning; Dundarave has enjoyed success in the form of the Great Taste Awards. Our Cherryvalley Apple Juice, Apple and Pear Juice and Apple Cider Vinegar were rewarded a ‘one star’ – labelling them as ‘Simply Delicious’ by Great Taste.
Great Taste is the world’s most trusted and largest food and drink awards with over 5,000 star rating results judged by over 500 experts. Only 25% of all entries receive a one-star rating, branding the food as ‘simply delicious’. By receiving this reward, Dundarave’s produce will be recommended throughout Great Taste’s PR and campaign’s – reaching 35 million consumers. This is a great achievement, from the 5,000 plus global entries, 170 companies from Northern Ireland received an award.
We spoke with Dundarave’s chef, Niall McGinn, to hear his thoughts on our recent success with Great Taste:
‘I am delighted to win a star in the Great Taste Awards for three of our products. This is a huge win; we are competing against large scale companies and supermarkets, not just in the UK but across the world. That’s thousands of products vying to win a star… and we got three!’

Also, Dundarave’s Spiced Plum and Damson jam and Cherryvalley’s Apple Cider Vinegar have been nominated in this year’s Irish Food Awards, with the final winners being announced on Saturday 2nd October.
The Irish Food Awards has been running for 14 years and is the biggest competition for quality Irish produce. Nominated companies are set to be rewarded either Gold, Silver or Bronze. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram this coming Saturday to find out if Dundarave win!
